An important coordination meeting for the research team directors of the smart greenhouse project at our center.

A meeting of the research team directors for the smart greenhouse project was held at the headquarters of the Manufacturing and Scientific Consultancy Center. The discussions addressed the first phase of tasks and completed works during this stage, as detailed below:

• Dr. Saoud Kadeh (Director of the Center) opened the meeting by presenting the report sent by Dr. Aws Hassan (The General Commission for Biotechnology – Damascus University), Director of the Agricultural Technical Team. The report included the team’s key recommendations regarding the proposed cultivation type and the materials for the engineering structure supporting the agricultural shelves, in line with the approved smart irrigation systems.

• A detailed presentation was delivered by Dr. Louai Khalil (Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Tartous University), Director of the Engineering Designs Research Team, outlining the team’s vision regarding three proposed engineering models for the smart greenhouses, along with the competitive advantages of each design.

• A detailed presentation was given by Dr. Mohammad Nasr (Director of Scientific Research at Tartous University), Director of the Automation and Control Systems Research Team, detailing the core ideas related to the control system compatible with the engineering design. He also proposed the establishment of a dedicated wireless communication system for the project to interconnect and control the greenhouses (LoRa system).

• An intervention was made by Dr. Walaa Zreikah (Director of Public Relations at the Center), Director of the Economic Feasibility Research Team, addressing the essential procedures to be considered during project execution to ensure its economic feasibility.

• An intervention was made by Ms. Manar Maarouf (Tartous University), Director of the Quality Assurance Team for the smart greenhouse project, discussing the crucial points that require coordination with the research teams to ensure the project meets both local and international standards and requirements through a joint collaboration mechanism.

• An intervention was made by Dr. Ahlam Habib (Homs University), Director of the Chemical Research Team, regarding the primary characteristics of the polycarbonate sheets proposed for the structural construction in alignment with the engineering design, and the features provided by this technology.

Subsequently, coordination was established with the teams regarding the mechanism for forwarding the first-phase outcomes to the relevant research teams, managed by Dr. Faten Al-Ahmad (Head of the Scientific Tracking Department at the Center), to proceed with the second-phase tasks of the research teams. Furthermore, this mechanism will be integrated into the center’s quality protocol by Dr. Reem Ibrahim (Head of the Quality Assurance Department).
